With Oscar Peterson!
In the fall of 1996, Oscar Peterson gave a special concert in Town Hall
in New York. Afterwards, I finally had a chance to sit down with one of
my most revered idols and talk about music and playing the piano (from
very different perspectives!) What a great privilege it was to meet this
man...
With my parents
This photo was taken at the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards
ceremony in November 1996. My parents, who have selflessly and generously
supported every musical moment of my life, came to Ottawa to share in this
joyous occasion.
With Joni Mitchell !
I had the wonderful honour of meeting fellow Canadian musician Joni
Mitchell for a few moments at the Governor General's Performing Arts Awards
held in Ottawa, Canada. Our very different musical styles notwithstanding
(!) it was a privilege to be in her company even briefly!
On a special occasion in Baltimore...
Relaxing with cellist Ralph Kirschbaum and violinist/conductor Pinchas
Zukerman after a performance of Beethoven's Triple Concerto with the Baltimore
Symphony Orchestra in July 1997. But I must say modestly that the highlight
of the evening was my own Happy Birthday tribute to Pinky, in which the
entire sold-out audience joined in full song...
Performing with the VSO
This photograph was taken mid-phrase during a performance of Beethoven's
Piano Concerto No.3 with Sergiu Comissiona and the Vancouver Symphony
Orchestra.

Master Classes in Banff
With my piano master class students at the Banff Centre, enjoying the
beautiful scenery of the Rockies. This was truly a dedicated bunch! Not
only did they work very hard, but they also had enough energy left to join
me on a 4:30 AM hiking trip up Tunnel Mountain, armed with flashlights,
to watch the sunrise! From left to right, Judy Woo, Ryan McClelland, Angela Park,
Sonoko Kambara, Grace Huang, Katherine Pang, Jon Kimura Parker, Soojin Yu,
Ian Parker, Roanna Tay, Charlsie Griffiths, Heidi Kim, and Jenny Tsai.
